This has been a while in the making because it had to tell the story of Blackbird in its fullness.
A celebration of Black women and the need for their voices to be heard and listened to. A celebration of multiculturalism and being mixed race. A celebration of representation and how much it’s needed – to feel like we are able to show up in all spaces as our full selves.
Blackbird is for all the women who have inspired me, pushed me, and held me. Black and White, I am blessed to have grown up within a circle of fiercely capable, independent, loving women who never allowed me to not believe in myself or my abilities.
You are my heroes.
You are my Queens.
You are my saviors.
